Lisa Mac Dermott’s professional focus has centered on ‘Excellence in Pedagogy’, guiding staff to design, implement and evaluate their teaching programs using contemporary pedagogical frameworks such as Classroom Instruction that Works (CITW), The Art and Science of Teaching  (ASOT),  Dimensions of Learning, Model of Pedagogy and The Thinking Skills Framework. Lisa is committed to the goal that teachers and leaders must continue to seek and reflect on best pedagogical practice to achieve excellent student outcomes. She works with teachers and leaders in creating a shared learning culture that supports a school-wide approach to curriculum, pedagogy and standards that are synchronised and aligned.

Lisa works in many schools across Australia and was invited to join the Australian Council of Educational Leaders’ Academy (ACEL), supporting their ‘Leadership Capabilities Framework’ in the areas of Excellence in Pedagogy, Coherent Approaches and Professional Learning Conversations. She has also been a keynote speaker for Brisbane Catholic Education’s ‘Out of the Box – Emerging and Aspiring Leaders Program’, speaking specifically on ‘Enhancing Pedagogy.’ Currently, Lisa is working in a number of schools training and coaching to improve instructional practice whilst embedding and addressing the Australian Curriculum and the Australian Professional Standards for Teaching.

Lisa has worked in a range of Queensland educational settings including government and catholic schools, independent colleges and tertiary institutions.

She has worked as a classroom teacher, year level co-ordinator, learning support teacher, co-ordinator of teaching and learning and university tutor, working with pre-service teachers, teachers, middle management and leadership teams.

Lisa is the director of Continuing Professional Development for Teachers (CPD 4 Teachers), a consultancy that specialises in assisting schools and leaders undergoing fundamental curriculum and instructional/pedagogical change. CPD 4 Teachers offers school communities professional growth through cooperative and flexible on-site training, coaching and mentoring opportunities.
